We’ve Got A $2.4B Shortfall Because Of Republicans? As if the Democrats would have spent less. Maybe this “shortfall” is a great opportunity to cut everything that doesn’t work. Mike Hicks, professor of Economics at Ball State University, blames Trump’s tariffs for the shortfall.

Tony Katz:

Lot of hemming and hawing. That’s not the right word. A lot of sky is falling talk regarding the budget in the state of Indiana. We’ve got a $2.4 billion shortfall. Look what those terrible Republicans have done. Everybody just stop! Just stop being weird! That’s all it takes. Be normal for 5 minutes. You’ve got a shortfall on projections. You don’t know what you have in reality, so why in the world are you completely losing your damn minds? Could you just stop? Budget cuts… now wait a second, I’m in favor of the budget cuts regardless. I’m in favor of everybody there in the General Assembly spending less of our money, and I’m in favor of Hoosiers getting it back. They’re expecting a $2.4 billion shortfall. It’s not even a shortfall. It’s less than the expectation, but it’s still up. So now they’re looking at budget cuts. What can they do? What is it that they can possibly do? Well, I if we’re going over the programs, we can cut I don’t know where to start, but I’m in favor of just about everything. Why not? Why shouldn’t I be? Why shouldn’t everyone be? If you wanna decide you’re going to scare people with a shortfall which isn’t a shortfall, so the political left can scream… This is why we need to raise taxes. I think Republicans should take this as an opportunity to say let’s cut everything under the sun, starting with all of their priority policies.
