Children on Bikes Hit by Ambulance in Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — One child is dead, and another severely injured in Terre Haute. Both were hit by a TransCare ambulance while riding bicycles Tuesday night.
Police say the crash happened about 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of 13th St. and Wheeler Ave.
They believe the ambulance was on its way to a wreck when the crash with the kids happened.
When police got to the scene paramedics were working on the kids. One of them died and the other was flown to a hospital via medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
The names and ages of the children were not immediately released by authorities.
ILearn testing at Honey Creek Middle School was postponed Wednesday.
“It is with a heavy heart, we write to inform you of a tragic accident that occurred Tuesday evening. We are all deeply affected by this devastating news, and our thoughts are with the families of the students during this difficult time,” read a letter sent to parents. “As a result, ILEARN testing will be postponed today, Wednesday, April 16. More information will be released once modified schedules are finalized.”
