INDIANAPOLIS — Firefighters are on the scene of a large warehouse fire on Indy’s south side.
IFD responded to the fire at Contractors Plus, on East Murry Street, around 1:30 pm. That’s just off Madison Avenue, less than a mile northwest of the University of Indianapolis.
A WIBC listener called the newsroom and said she could see large black smoke from Southport Road.
IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith said they had 18 units on the scene to help get the fire under control. They spoke to the owner of the company, who said no one was at the warehouse when the fire began. Reith also said propane tanks and ammunition were inside the warehouse.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
