FRANKFORT, Ky. — Democrat Andy Beshear is claiming victory in the Kentucky governors race.

With 99{46ff1f14221e6e90aab6104ff16614ca22b12c1f029f774ee196565ca96b3af3} of precincts reporting, Beshear currently has 709,697 votes to Bevin’s 703,899.

Beshear, the state’s current attorney general, beat Republican incumbent Matt Bevin by a few thousand votes. In his victory speech, Beshear said he expects Bevin to honor the election and help with the transition process.

However, Bevin says he’s not conceding the close race.  Instead, he wants reports of voting irregularities looked at and for the legal process to play out.

“Would it be a Bevin race if it wasn’t a squeaker? I mean, come on,” Bevin said at his election night party. “I mean, really and truly, this is a close, close race. We are not conceding this race by any stretch.”

President Trump’s campaign manager is reacting to election results in Kentucky.  Brad Parscale says “The President just about dragged” incumbent Governor Matt Bevin “across the finish line.”  He added that Trump helped Bevin run stronger than he was expected to.
