LAWRENCE, Ind. — A man died in a shooting early Tuesday in Lawrence.
Police responded around 5:30 a.m. to Kingsboro Court, where they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died. That’s near East 46th street and North Post Road.
“When the officers got there, they observed a man lying in the street,” said Deputy Police Chief Travis Cline. “It appears to be a dispute between neighbors. All of the parties are at the police station being interviewed.”
Police detained one person.
“Right now the case is under review by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office,” Cline said. “Charges can range from murder to criminal recklessness. There could be a whole gamut of charges.”
Cline said the department has recently seen more cases where people are choosing to solve problems with guns rather than resolving issues through conversation. He urged people to avoid violence and highlighted a program where residents can share information with police.
“It’s called the SafeCam Program, where residents can go to our website and register if they have a camera to save our investigators time.”
