Actor Gene Hackman Found Dead Along With Wife And Dog

Two-time Oscar award-winning actor Gene Hackman was found dead along with his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, and their dog at their New Mexico home on Feb. 26. Hackman was 95 and his wife was 64.
According to TMZ, deputies responded to the actor’s compound after receiving a call from a neighbor asking for a wellness check. Once inside, they found the couple’s bodies, as well as one of their dogs.
After acquiring a warrant to conduct a more thorough search, they determined that their bodies had been there for at least a day. Two more dogs were found alive in the compound.
A spokesperson from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office said that foul play is not suspected at this time and causes of death have yet to be determined.
Hackman’s daughter, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, told TMZ that the family is still unsure what happened, though they believe that they could’ve died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Hackman leaves behind an incredible legacy of work in iconic films that include The French Connection, The Birdcage, Superman and Hoosiers; his versatility and talent earned him many accolades from critics and peers, including the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement in film at the Golden Globes.
