INDIANAPOLIS–Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman will not play in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
Pittman has had two catches while being targeted 10 times in the last two games.
“I mean he’s been battling like crazy. We’re taking this thing week-to-week. Like I’ve said before, one of the toughest guys (I’ve) ever been around. He’s been battling like crazy. So, we’re going to take it week-to-week with him,” said Colts Head Coach Shane Steichen Friday afternoon.
Pittman has been battling both an injury to his back and his finger. Steichen said this is more about his back. Steichen was also asked if Pittman’s injury has gotten worse.
“I can’t really say. I’m not a doctor. I mean but yeah, he’s battling through it,” said Steichen.
Steichen is hoping that this week off will be beneficial to Pittman in the long run.
“It could. It definitely could. We’re going to take it week-to-week like I said, go through the process and see how it goes.”
He has not put Pittman on injured reserve. Colts Center Ryan Kelly was put on injured reserve Tuesday, which means he’ll miss at least the next four weeks.
Pittman was signed to a three-year, $71.5 million contract extension on March 11.
He finished 2023 as the Colts leading receiver with 109 catches for 1,152 yards and four touchdowns. He was fifth in the league in catches and 14th in receiving yards that year.
