Trump had a field day at the 79th annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. Vice President Kamala Harris on the other hand did not show up and completely phoned it in.

The Al Smith dinner, named for the nation’s first Catholic presidential candidate, is considered a highlight of the campaign season. Politicians from both sides of the aisle break bread and trade good-natured jabs at the charity dinner, which is aimed at raising funds for women and children in need.

Trump, who recognized that it is not a great look for any candidate to skip the Catholic charity dinner, took the opportunity to lay into the Democrat presidential candidate.

“My opponent feels like she does not have to be here, which is deeply disrespectful to the event, and in particular to our great Catholic community. Very disrespectful,” Trump said to applause.

“If you really wanted Vice President Harris to accept your invitation, I guess you should have told her the funds were going to bail out the looters and rioters in Minneapolis, and she would have been here,” he added later, a reference to her support for demonstrators who were arrested during the protests in response to George Floyd’s killing in 2020.

Trump also criticized Harris’ intelligence.

“The fact is, we need new leadership in this country,” Trump said. “Right now we have someone in the White House who can barely talk, barely put together two coherent sentences, who seems to have the mental faculties of a child. There’s a person that has nothing going. No intelligence whatsoever.”

Kamala, who did not bother to attend the dinner, enlisted Molly Shannon to revive her SNL character of Catholic school girl Mary Katherine Gallagher for a video they filmed to be played at the dinner. The video seemed to fall flat.
