FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Starting next school year, one Hoosier university will be offering automatic admission to some incoming freshmen in Fort Wayne.

Indiana University Fort Wayne recently announced that it will be working with Fort Wayne Community Schools to automatically admit high school seniors with GPAs of 2.0 or higher, starting next Fall.

This is part of the Indiana Pre-Admissions: Your Path to College initiative. Educators say this plan will help remove barriers for students who wish to attend college.

Dr. Deborah Garrison, Vice Chancellor and Dean of IU Fort Wayne says, “We’re honored to…help remove the deadlines, fees, and other requirements that can often be significant obstacles to students who seek to make a difference in…our community and region.”

Obviously, this automatic enrollment does not mean your child has to attend IU Fort Wayne. But, it can help simplify the process for students who would like to pursue a higher education close to home.
