INDIANAPOLIS–The largest family-owned recycling and trash service in Indianapolis is being sold.

WM, formerly Waste Management, has acquired Ray’s Trash Service.

Ray’s has served 17 counties in central Indiana since being founded in 1965. It has about 600 employees and a fleet of more than 300 trucks.

“WM remains committed to providing the Indianapolis area with quality recycling and waste disposal services for years to come, with an emphasis on supporting the cultivation of community vitality and sustainable growth in the region,” said a statement released by WM on Thursday.

Waste Management had a revenue of $17.9 billion last year. It has more than 42,000 employees and 21 million residential and corporate customers.

In its second-quarter earnings report, Waste Management said it planned to complete between $300 and $400 million of acquisitions in 2022. WM is headquartered in the Bank of America Tower in Houston, Texas.
