LAKE COUNTY, Ind. — A Lake County judge has sentenced Chicago Bears great Dan Hampton to one year of probation after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drunk driving.

Court papers say Hampton, 64, had an open jug of wine in his truck and was two times over the legal limit when he was pulled over near Winfield, Ind., in November.

Hampton pleaded guilty in December, and his plea was accepted by a judge.

The man known as the “Danimal” played for the Bears as a defensive lineman from 1979 to 1990, including the 1985 Super Bowl championship team. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
