INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has completed the first phase of its move of inmates to the new Adult Detention Center on Indy’s southeast side.
Nearly 1,500 inmates have been transferred to the new facility from Marion County Jail 1, Marion County Jail 2, and the City-County Building since last Monday.
The move took place without incident, says MCSO.
Marion County Jail 1 and the City-County Building have no more inmates.
About 700 prisoners remain at Marion County Jail 2, the private jail. MCSO says they will be moved into the Adult Detention Center by the end of the month.
