UNIONVILLE, Ind. — A child had to be airlifted to Indianapolis, after a school bus went off the road and hit a tree in Monroe County.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were called to 7800 East Northshore Drive just after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Police say a school bus went off the road, and hit a tree. According to police, the bus was the only vehicle involved.

Three children and the driver were on the bus at the time of the crash. The driver and two of the children had minor injuries. One of the children had “more serious injuries”, according to police. That child was flown to a hospital in Indianapolis.

Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the crash.
