The Supreme Court has taken up a case on abortion which gives them the opportunity to reconsider Roe Vs. Wade.
SCOTUS will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, a challenge to Mississippi’s 15 week abortion ban.
Tony Katz wants you know that the conversation isn’t about the act of abortion itself, but rather who has the power to regulate. Katz believes each state should have that power, which is why he opposes Roe vs. Wade.
“I oppose it because it is the usurpation of states’ rights. States can decide whether or not they have abortions. Why is the federal government getting involved here?
We’ve seen the court play in this space before where they have no right to play. So I favor the overturning of Roe v Wade because it would return the issue to the states and states will make decisions.”
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case could also present the court the opportunity to reconsider Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
