President Joe Biden’s economic adviser Cecilia Rouse blamed the bad April jobs report on Easter being in March, during the White House press briefing on 5/14/2021. Easter was, of course, in April, but whatever.

Hiring plunged in the month of April, with nonfarm payrolls increasing by a much less than expected 266,000.

The unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, the Labor Department said.

Dow Jones estimates had been for 1 million new jobs and an unemployment rate of 5.8%.
