COLUMBUS, Ind. — Several buildings in downtown Columbus, including First Presbyterian Church and the Cummins, Inc. corporate office building, were defaced with white supremacist graffiti on Saturday.

On the buildings were a stenciled logo and web address for the Texas-based white supremacist organization, Patriot Front. The Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center both consider Patriot Front to be a hate group.

The logos were also found in Friendship Alley between Fourth and Fifth Streets and on the Jackson Street Parking Garage, police told The Republic newspaper.

Mayor Jim Lienhoop texted the newspaper the following statement: “…(Patriot Front) have no place in Columbus. We want to be a welcoming community and are disheartened to see this kind of behavior.”

Columbus police are investigating.
