The grift pays.
Longtime Republican strategist, Steve Schmidt, announced he is registering as a Democrat. Schmidt has worked on several Republican campaigns through his 30 year career including Sen. John McCain’s and George W. Bush’s.
In 2018 Schmidt announced he was separating from his known party to become independent. He co-founded an anti-Trump PAC, “The Lincoln Project” in 2019.
The announcement was made on the “Battleground” podcast with David Plouffe. Schmidt’s decision was partly due to the Republican House members backing the Texas lawsuit towards the 2020 election.
Tony Katz isn’t surprised about the announcement, in fact he calls Schmidt out for being a grifter.
“He fleeced people for outrageous amounts of cash with his entire lie that he is a believer in being a principled Republican He’s not a republican. He’s never been a republican. It was a lie.”
