Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez addressed rumors Tuesday that she’s considering a run for the White House (built by slaves) in 2028.

The New York Representative who suffers from multiple verbal ticks said in an Instagram video she’s like really more of person of like mission and purpose than like, you know, someone who aspires to be in like positions and stuff like that… For real.

Actually, what she said was the following:

Ocasio-Cortez: “I struggle like as whether to address this or not? Um, but, you know, people keep saying like ‘Oh, like the future, like 2028, like blah, blah, blah,’ and like, I think what’s really important is that… um… We have a lot of work that we need to do right now? And um… And like… I wanna level with all of you? I’m not a person who aspires to a position? I aspire to a mission.”

See? What I wrote first was close enough.

There’s more.

AOC: “And there’s a lot of savorism (not a word) in politics and like who’s going to save us? And the answer is you. The answer is people… And I know it’s…”

Such profound insight to recognize that the people who are going to save us are people.

AOC: “Um… and if you think that Democracy is a ‘set it and forget it’ kind of thing? And if you think that if you just vote for X-person now or X-person next? Um… That’s not the mentality that is necessary? Um… For us to win on the real issues. Because why do we vote for any person in a given election? Right? We vote for a person in an election… I mean there’s a lot of different reasons? But… If you’re progressive and you really care about a lot of issues? Um, you vote for them based on whether or not you think they will work you. And… The issues and the perspectives that you care about most. And um… I think… um… I think that’s what we really have to focus on and… um…”

All the depth of a Taylor Swift song right there.
