VALPARAISO, Ind. – A former deputy prosecutor from Porter County has had her law license suspended by the Indiana Supreme Court after being accused of mishandling a child molesting case.

According to the Times of Northwest Indiana, Trista Hudson failed to disclose during a Portage man’s trial that one of his two stepchildren who accused the man of molestation admitted to fabricating some of the accusations.

The Indiana Supreme Court’s opinion said that Hudson had learned that some of the accusations were made up less than a week before the trial, but did not reveal that information to the man’s defense lawyer or drop the corresponding charge.

The man on trial was acquitted by the judge on all four courts and released from jail while awaiting another molestation count involving a third child.

Hudson later told investigators that she was not required to disclose the false accusation to the defense.

She has been suspended for at least 18 months, beginning in October.

Hudson was fired by the Porter County Prosecutor’s office in July 2016.
