Strong Storms Expected This Weekend in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — Damaging winds, heavy rain, and strong storms are all on the table as several systems roll through Indiana. Saturday afternoon and evening look to be the most active stretch, with the highest chance for severe weather.
Friday night begins quietly under mostly cloudy skies. After midnight, though, more showers and storms could push in and last into early Saturday morning. Overnight lows will dip to the low 70s.
Saturday’s when things ramp up. Storms are expected to develop between 2 and 8 p.m. as a strong weather system moves in from the west. We’re looking at the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain.
A few tornadoes can’t be ruled out either, mainly in northern parts of the state. Some spots could see one to two inches of rain per hour, raising the chance for flash flooding.
Storms should lose some steam later Saturday night, but scattered showers and downpours may still hang around. Not everyone will get rain, but if you do, it could be intense.
Sunday doesn’t look quite as stormy, but we’re not in the clear. There’s still plenty of moisture and instability in the air, and while the severe threat is lower, heavy rain is still a concern, especially for areas already soaked from Saturday.
