One Person Dead in I-70 Crash Near Downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS–The driver of a semi died in a crash that happened just before 5 pm on Friday afternoon on I-70 westbound approaching the North Split in downtown Indianapolis.
State police say they got several 911 calls about a semi that had lost its entire load in the road and the driver was unresponsive when first responders arrived. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash involved a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. No one in the passenger vehicle suffered serious injuries. Troopers believe a vehicle made an abrupt lane change in front of the semi causing the semi driver to brake and eventually crash.
The semi had a load of plywood in the truck’s flatbed trailer. The plywood fell from the trailer.
All westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for more than an hour.
