Man Arrested After Shooting Woman While Holding Infant

FISHERS, Ind. — A man was arrested after he opened fire at his ex-girlfriend while holding an infant.
The Fishers Police Department says it happened at an apartment complex on Benton Drive, near State Road 37 and East 141st Street, in Fishers.
Officers say the woman got surgery and is recovering in the hospital. Her child only had minor injuries.
The man was identified as 21-year-old Giovanny Javier De Jesus De Jesus, and he is the father of the child. De Jesus ran off before police arrived at the scene, but witnesses gave police information about him.
Fishers Police said in a press release that De Jesus turned himself into the Decatur Police Department before 11 p.m. on Saturday.
De Jesus is now in the Hamilton County Jail, and he was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.
