Indiana Can’t Figure Out How To Lower Property Taxes
Property tax relief was one of Mike Braun’s top campaign issues, focused on Indiana lowering property taxes, that helped him launch into the Governor’s seat. Indiana property tax relief is a hot topic! Yet, the statehouse has ignored the mandate and has amended the bill so much that it provides little relief at all. While politicians have been patting themselves on the back for providing homeowners a $200 credit, they are allowing municipalities to levy new taxes to offset the “losses”.
Tony Katz:
So, do I understand it properly that in Indiana we can’t figure out how to lower property taxes? Ohh, we’ll, lower property taxes, but we’ll tell the cities that they can raise their sales taxes or income taxes or whatever it is they need to raise in order to counteract and that’ll be our plan. First, anybody who didn’t understand that was coming, I must look at a skew. Of course that was coming. I thought that the writing was on the wall.
