Whiting, Ind.– There is in fact a Mascot Hall of Fame and it’s right here in Whiting, Indiana.

Colts’ mascot Blue and the Indiana Pacers’ mascot Boomer have both been voted into the hall.

The announcement was made Wednesday evening at the Mascot Hall of Fame Fur Tie Fundraiser.

Both were nominated back in October and with enough fan votes, they were selected two of the ten finalists.

Boomer became the Indiana Pacers mascot in the fall of 1991 and the current performer has been Boomer since 1997. He has participated in 15 NBA All-Star weekends and done five USO tours.

Blue has been the Indianapolis Colts’ official mascot since 2006. He has been named NFL Mascot of the Year twice, once in 2016 and again in 2019.

Both mascots are known for not just their game-day performances, but also what they do off the field and court. Boomer and Blue can be found participating in hundreds of community events and local school programs.

To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, a mascot must have been active for 10 years as a performing character in a major sports league, collegiate sports or as independently performing mascot.  Nominees are judged on their contributions to their team, school or organization and their impact on their sport and community.
