IMPD: Person Shot at Texas Roadhouse on Indy’s South Side, Later Dies

UPDATE: On Saturday morning, investigators identified the person arrested. He has been identified as 34-year-old Randy Godfrey. Godfrey is charged with murder.
INDIANAPOLIS–A person was shot at a Texas Roadhouse on the south side of Indianapolis Friday night.
IMPD was called and told that shots had been fired just before 9 pm at the Texas Roadhouse on Southport Crossing Drive. It’s just southwest of the I-65 interchange at Southport Road.
An off-duty officer was enjoying a night-out with when a fight broke out in the restaurant between two men. The fight eventually moved to the parking lot. One of the two men shot the other.
“The man who was shot was rushed to a hospital in critical condition,” said IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer in a press briefing at roughly 9:30 pm.
That man later died at the hospital.
“The officer that took action identified herself as a police officer and took the suspect into custody and waited for uniformed officers to arrive at the scene,” said Weilhammer.
