Woman Dies in Fire on Indy’s Southeast Side

INDIANAPOLIS — An 82-year-old woman died in a house fire on Indy’s southeast side Saturday afternoon.
A neighbor called firefighters, and they arrived on Chisolm Trail before 5:00. As soon as firefighters arrived, they found out the woman inside the home, and that’s where she died.
Firefighters were told that the woman lived alone in that home for over 30 years, but she was also checked on by neighbors everyday.
Firefighters said smoking alarms were inside the home, but they do not know how the fire started.
