DURHAM, N.C. — A woman who claims she was raped by three members of the Duke University lacrosse team nearly 20 years ago, now says she made up the whole story.
During a recent interview on a social media podcast, Crystal Mangum said she testified falsely against the students, by saying they raped her in a bathroom during an off-campus party in 2006 where she was working as a stripper.
Governor Roy Cooper, who was serving as State Attorney General at the time, dismissed all charges against the men for lack of evidence.
Mangum is currently serving a prison term for second-degree murder after she was convicted in 2013.
