INDIANAPOLIS — A standoff on the east side of Indianapolis ended early Thursday morning with an arrest and no reported injuries, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).
Officers responded to a home on South Gladstone Avenue, near Sherman Drive and East Washington Street, shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday after receiving a report Wednesday evening of an armed person. A woman reported being held at gunpoint but escaped before officers arrived.
During the standoff, the suspect fired at officers, but no injuries were reported. After hours of negotiation and the use of tear gas, officers entered the home and arrested the suspect. The individual was taken to a local hospital.
Around 4:30 a.m., IMPD posted on social media that the suspect was in custody and there was no threat to the community.
