CARROLL COUNTY, IND — Jurors may visit the crime scene in the Delphi murders case.
Defense attorneys for Richard Allen, the suspect, filed a motion requesting that jurors be taken to the Freedom Bridge, the Monon High Bridge, the site where the victim’s bodies were found, and the old CPS building where prosecutors claim Allen parked his vehicle on February 13, 2017.
Allen is charged with the murders of 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German, with his trial set to begin on October 14.
The defense argues that visiting the locations would help jurors better understand the evidence. They would experience the area’s unique landscape firsthand, something that photos and videos can’t fully capture.
They estimate the trip would take less than 90 minutes, as the sites are less than two miles from the courthouse.
