CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — For the second time in a week, a Georgia deputy has died after being shot in the line of duty.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Investigator Taylor Bristow died Friday night, three days after assisting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in executing a search warrant in Carrollton.
The bureau said the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and Bristow was struck by the same bullet when he and other deputies entered the house.
Last Saturday, Paulding County Deputy Brandon Cunningham was shot and killed during a standoff.
His funeral was Friday.
