FRANKLIN, Ind. – A drug sweep in Johnson County targeted more than 30 people. Johnson County Prosecutor Joe Villanueva says methamphetamine was the main drug that law enforcement focused on during the operation.

Villanueva said the operation targeted 31 people and twenty of them are in custody. He also confirmed that 10 of them could face additional charges.

Villanueva said undercover drug deals were included in the narcotics sweep and those who were targeted ranged in age from 20 to 67 years.

The people who have been charged are not just Johnson County residents, but residents of Marion and Bartholomew County as well.

“As a united front here, I think we, all of the law enforcement agencies, in Johnson County have one common message: if you bring this poison into our communities, we are going to put you in prison,” said Greenwood Chief of Police James Ison. “The four agencies you see here [JCSO, FPD, GPD, JCPO], we work so well together…it’s better than I’ve ever seen. I can only speak for our area, but I don’t know of any other agencies in a county that work as close as we do here. These guys share information, they work on the same cases, their dedication and their time and effort that they put into it.”
