INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been sentenced for the Dec. 2018 murder of a 16-year-old girl from Lawrence.
Tighe Bibbs will spend 55 years in prison for the murder of Shiloh Britton, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Monday.
The murder happened inside Britton’s family apartment in Lawrence.
Bibbs was convicted last month of murder and carrying a handgun without a license.
On the morning of Dec. 6, 2018, Britton was found by her mother with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police determined that Bibbs and the victim had arranged for Bibbs to come to her apartment on the night of the murder. Surveillance footage showed Bibbs entering and leaving Britton’s apartment twice on the night of the murder. Bibbs’ cell phone records put him in the area of Britton’s apartment at the time of the murder.
Bibbs was arrested in April 2019 after investigators received an anonymous tip regarding his location.
