Videos are circulating on social media that show Canadians reportedly standing at the United States-Canada border while holding an upside-down Canadian flag and using lights to Morse code “SOS” in response to the Ontario government’s new lockdown orders.

“We are down here in Niagara Falls, Ontario. We have a flag upside down in distress. And we are about to Morse code ‘SOS’ across the border to our neighbors. We are asking for help. We are hostages in our province now,” an unidentified man says in the video.

The videos emerged shortly after the Canadian government announced strict new measures in response to the coronavirus on Friday, including closing playgrounds, limiting church services, banning outdoor gatherings with people from multiple families, and allowing police officers to stop people in public, ask them why they are out of their homes, and write tickets.

Weird. This all sounds so eerily familiar…
