INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are searching for a man who violated terms of his pretrial release in connection to the August homicide of a 4-month old.

Brandon Herring, 22, was charged Aug. 31 with aggravated battery in the death, according to online court documents. A homicide report from Indianapolis police lists the boy as Jaxon Thompson.

Thompson died at Riley Hospital for Children after being found unresponsive two days earlier, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Aug. 31. IMPD says officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of South Pennsylvania Street to assist with a child choking around 5 p.m. Aug. 29. First responders found Thompson unresponsive, and he was taken to the hospital.

Detectives learned the child suffered from abusive head trauma, according to IMPD.

Shatrese Flowers, the Marion Superior Court 28 judge, reduced Herring’s surety bond on Sept. 21 to $200,000 over objections from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. On Oct. 7, the prosecutor’s office asked for a hearing to revoke Herring’s bond, and a hearing was set for Thursday. Herring did not show up for that hearing.

A pretrial conference is set in the court on Dec. 2.

Anyone with information in the case was asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
