STATEWIDE — Indiana’s state parks and recreation areas are still open, but with some changes.

DNR properties are still open for daytime hiking, biking on paved trails, boating, fishing, birding, and geocaching, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday. Gate fees at properties that normally charge admission are temporarily waived.

However, new restrictions on camping and some trails were put into effect this week:

  • Campgrounds on all DNR properties are closed through April 20.
  • Bicycling on unpaved trails and all horseback riding has been suspended at all DNR properties.

Also, some trails at Indiana State Parks are now closed for safety purposes. These include most of the hiking trails at Turkey Run, Shades and Clifty Falls, and about half of the hiking trails at O’Bannon Woods.

If you visit a state park or recreation area, be prepared for limited restroom access and for all campground comfort stations and modern restrooms to be closed.

Also open to guests are state forests and nature preserves, state fish & wildlife areas, and outdoor recreation areas. For more information, click here.
