INDIANAPOLIS – The Republican candidate who is looking to win the 4th-district U.S. House seat says a new trade agreement between the U.S. and Canada is good for Hoosiers.

In an interview with 93 WIBC’s “Tony Katz and the Morning News”, Republican State Rep. Jim Baird says The United States Mexico Canada Agreement (U.S.M.C.A.), which President Trump announced on Monday morning, will be a big help for Indiana’s agriculture industry.

“I think agriculture in general is happy to see the chance to have fair trade and to have those tariffs removed where we can, or lowered, to make the trade much easier,” said Baird.

The revised agreement still needs to be approved by all three governments, including Congress, which won’t vote on the agreement until next year.

Baird, who is seeking the U.S. House seat that is currently held by Rep. Todd Rokita, faces Democrat Tobi Beck in the November election.
