CLINTON COUNTY, Ind.  — One person died after a semi crash on I-65 in Clinton County on Monday night.

The Perry Township Fire Department says just after 11 p.m., a semi driver was on his cell phone when he lost control of the vehicle, hit the guardrail, and landed on its side, blocking both lanes of the interstate. The fuel tank was ripped off, and landed on the road below, resulting in a small explosion.

Then, the department says, as crews were clearing up the scene, a driver, who had gotten out of their vehicle to help, fell off the overpass.

A helicopter was brought in to take the person to the hospital but it was during transportation that the individual went into cardiac arrest and died.
