(INDIANAPOLIS) — Indiana has posted its highest total of new coronavirus cases in five weeks:

596 more Hoosiers have been diagnosed with coronavirus, the third straight day over 500. The last such streak was at the end of May, which is also the last time the numbers were this high.

One of every eight new cases is in Elkhart County, which has doubled its infection count in 30 days. One of every 63 people in the county has had the virus.

Marion County had 81 new cases, the most in nine days.

Six newly reported deaths bring the state’s death toll to an even 2,500. An additional 193 deaths are presumed to be from COVID-19 based on the patients’ symptoms.
