INDIANAPOLIS — The driver of the fuel tanker that exploded on I-465 and I-70 on Feb. 20 has died.
Jeffrey “Duke” Denman, 59, died at Eskenazi Hospital Saturday morning.
Denman was a driver for Zionsville-based Jet Star, at the time of the crash.
According to Indianapolis Fire Dept. Battalion Chief Rita Reith, the fuel tanker carrying 4,000 gallons of jet fuel overturned on the ramp from I-465 south to I-70 east, causing an explosion. Denman was able to escape the semi before the explosion, but was critically injured in the process and taken to the hospital.
