INDIANAPOLIS — A four-year-old riding in the back seat of a car was killed in a crash Friday night.
Police say the car ran off Country Club Road and crashed into a tree just after 8:30 p.m.
The child was not properly restrained in a car seat at the time of the crash and when first responders arrived was having trouble breathing.
The four-year-old was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Police say the driver of the car was not seriously hurt.
Investigators are working to figure out if the driver may have had a medical emergency before crashing.
