INDIANAPOLIS – The Kroger store at 6108 E. 46th Street will close by the end of the month.

The company blamed “ongoing poor financial performance” for the decision. Kroger said it had hoped the store could “return to reliable profitability”, but has determined that such improvement is “no longer realistic.” Now, with the lease expiring, the store will close by the end of August.

Customers will still be able to shop at five other Kroger locations that are only 5 to 6 miles from the 46th Street store.

Kroger will offer each of the 65 store employees the opportunity to transfer to another Indianapolis location.

Kroger has not said what day the store will close.
