FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A warrant for the man accused of beating another man to death on US 30 last week has been issued.

ABC 21 reports that Brandon Cook, 27, is wanted for involuntary manslaughter.

On August 8, witnesses say they saw Cook get out of his truck go up to another car and beat the man inside. Cook went back to his truck and drove off.

The man beaten, Orlando Fernandez, 60, died from cardiac arrest on his way to the hospital. His death has been ruled a homicide.

On Friday, Fort Wayne police detained and questioned a woman after a standoff at a garage on Goshen Road.

She told ABC 21 that she was in Cook’s pickup truck and witnessed the beating, which began when Cook couldn’t merge into traffic. She says she tried to get Cook to surrender to the police.

Anyone with information about Cook should call police.
