In 1997 WIBC’s former afternoon host, Dave “The King” Wilson and Former Nascar driver, John Andretti decided on a whim, to raise money for Riley Children’s Foundation, and they did it by having a go-kart race! The “Race For Riley” was born, and has grown to a 3 day event…to date raising over $1.6 million.
Dave, Big Joe Staysniak, Rick Posson and John’s son Jarrett (2017 Indiana Sprint Car Champ) stopped by “The First Day” to talk about this year’s “Kroger Race For Riley presented by Pepsi“, coming up on Sept. 5th at New Castle Motorsports Park.
John Andretti was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in 2017, and in May of this year, announced that the cancer had returned and spread.
“He just finished his 4th treatment in the second round of chemo, so he’s done 16 total treatments every other week…doing pretty good. Wishes he could be here, but appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers” – Jarrett Andretti
There’s still time to register to drive in the “Race For Riley“, and be a part of the “Window World Progressive Dinner” at the Biltwell Event Center on Sept. 6th. Click HERE for Tickets.
