You can’t be from the state of Indiana and not fall in love with the movie ‘Hoosiers.’ Heck, even Indiana natives who could care less about the game of basketball (shame on them) have a fondness for the Gene Hackman film that loosely told the story of the ‘Milan Miracle.’

In 1954, Milan was the smallest school ever to win a single-class state basketball title in Indiana, beating the team from the much larger Muncie Central High School. It was the ultimate modern-day tale of David vs. Goliath, and the movie it inspired became its own miraculous story of victory against seemingly insurmountable odds in Hollywood.
