The White House on Sunday officially asked Congress for $5.7 billion to build a “steel barrier,” prompting ill-informed morons on the left to proclaim that President Donald Trump “was backing down from his call for a concrete wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.”
In point of fact, the President never specified that the wall would consist entirely of concrete, and steel – for the factually-challenged left who might stumble upon this blog – is actually MORE expensive than concrete. The manufacturing costs alone dwarf the costs associated with the construction of concrete barriers.
Meanwhile, the President told a group of reporters on Sunday that he may decide to declare a national emergency in order to force funding and construction of the wall along the Southern border.
“We have to build the wall or we have to build the barrier. The barrier or the wall can be of steel instead of concrete if that works better,” the President said.
