INDIANAPOLIS — The flu is widespread across Indiana, including in Marion County.

In response, public health director Dr. Virginia Caine is asking hospitals in Marion County to adjust their visitor policies no later than Friday, January 11.

These restrictions include:

  • No visitors with flu symptoms.
  • No visitors under the age of 18.
  • Visitors limited to immediate family members.

Participating hospitals include those within the Community Health Network; Franciscan Health Indianapolis; St. Vincent and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital; and Indiana University Health, including Riley Hospital for Children. Also adopting these new policies are Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center.

Some hospitals may have additional rules, or may make exceptions, so it’s best to check the hospital’s website while planning your visit.
