HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — A body has been recovered from a Hamilton County pond, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say that on Thursday, Feb. 7, they responded to a report of a body in a pond in the 2400 block of West 246th Street near Sheridan.

Authorities state that the body, which was found face down and surrounded by ice, appeared to have been in the pond for an elongated period of time. However, following an autopsy Friday, the body did not appear to have any obvious signs of trauma or foul play.

The body has been identified as that of 25-year-old John Waters of Sheridan.

Waters had not been seen since November 2018, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

However, authorities do say that on Nov. 7, they did receive two separate calls of a suspicious person in the area of Sheridan Schools on Hinesley Roads. That person is thought to have been Waters.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 317-773-1282.
