INDIANAPOLIS — Calling all knitters! You’re being called on to help the Indiana Pacers get ready to host the NBA All-Star Game just two years from now.
Pacers Sports & Entertainment President Rick Fuson told Inside Indiana Business this week, they are enlisting the help of Hoosier knitters to make blue and gold colored beanies for volunteers, players, coaches, and even NBA commissioner Adam Silver to wear at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.
“Out folks have come up with the great thing called ‘Nothing But Knit’,” Fuson said. “We’re going to need about 5,000 of these beanies, so we are going to be sending out knitting kits all across the state with everything knitters need to make these beanies.”
Fuson said the beanies are needed because it’s likely going to be a bit chilly in February of 2021 when the NBA invades downtown Indianapolis for the All-Star Break. He added that Nothing But Knit is going to be the first of many initiatives the Pacers plan to announce in an effort to get Hoosiers involved in the planning for the All-Start Game.
The All-Star Game is in Charlotte, North Carolina this season.
“We’re taking another delegation to Charlotte to look at the All-Star Game again to make sure we see every opportunity,” said Fuson. “The economic impact is expected to be over $100 million alone.”
Fuson said they are leaving no stone unturned in planning for the event.
