PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio — An Indiana man missing since late December has been found dead in Ohio.

40-year-old Charles Rayburn, of Connersville, was reported missing December 3.

On March 23, police in Preble County, Ohio, found a man’s body in a wooded area next to a road.

Investigators searched the body and found Rayburn’s ID card.

After speaking with Rayburn’s family and locating a distinct tattoo on the man’s body, police were able to confirm his identity, the Preble Co. Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Investigators believe Rayburn’s body was in the woods for several weeks before being discovered.

Police from Preble County are working with the Connersville Police Dept. to determine how and why Rayburn died.

Rayburn’s sister, Jennifer Robinson, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money to cover funeral costs. Click here to find out more or donate.
