NORTH SALEM, Ind.–A woman from North Salem was reported missing on Wednesday, but she was last seen and heard from on Saturday June 21. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office says their search on Friday for Julia Frederick yielded no results.

On Saturday, Frederick left a note to her parents telling her that she would be camping on a heavily wooded property. Frederick also said that she had her cell phone with her in case there was an emergency. Frederick would later send a text message to her mother to tell her that she was still on the property camping by the creek.

Lieutenant Jeffrey Hughes with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that it was not out of the ordinary for Frederick to camp on the property and for her to be gone for days at a time.

“Nothing in the note was alarming or out of the ordinary to give us the indication that she was doing anything other than camping,” said Hughes.

On Monday, Frederick’s father drove his UTV around the property to look for her, but all he found was the camp site and no sign of Frederick. Police used an emergency ping to to Frederick’s phone, but that was not successful, which indicates that the phone’s battery died or it was turned off.

Julia Frederick lives with her parents. A Silver Alert was issued for Frederick on Thursday. After searching for her turned up nothing on Thursday, Hughes said they did all they could to find her on Friday.

“We had bloodhounds and cadaver dogs doing their best to try to get some kind of a scent, some type of clue to go off of, whatever we can to help find her,” said Hughes.

One team from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and another from the Honey Creek Fire Department helped in the search for Frederick. Drone patrols were also conducted at the same time.

“At this point, she hasn’t returned. We have concerns about lack of food, possible medications that she may need access to,” said Hughes.

Hughes and her family think it’s a strong possibility that Frederick might be out of medicine for her asthma inhaler.

Frederick is 41 years old. She is white and weighs 135 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes. Her height is 5’6″.

“Anyone with information regarding Ms. Frederick is asked to contact the Hendricks County Communications Center at 317-839-8700,” said Hughes.
